Colour Palette of Dried Pineapples - In Lecture Exercise F

Image
I have created the following colour palette from the picture I took of dried pineapple core slices. The mood I was trying to convey would be one of balance and have the ability to draw attention to the more vibrant colours such as the hue of yellow. I used an analogous colour scheme to achieve this effect, with most of the colours being around the green and yellow side of the colour wheel, which is accented by the brown and black hues.

Why it's annoying - In Lecture Exercise E

Complementary Typefaces This picture uses the same typeface and capitalization of text for the title and body, which does not allow for a good contrast between them. Although the fonts are different in terms of the size, this makes it hard to narrow down what you are trying to emphasize. They could have used a Sans Serif font for the body text. Readability The text in the picture is also hard to read as it uses a Serif font, which on computer screens makes it harder to read due to the low resolution. The body text is also center-aligned, which causes the reader to not be able to read the text with ease as each line does not naturally start from the same point. Hierarchy  Matters The body of text in the picture is placed in one chunk and not broken down into smaller chunks of text (i.e. paragraphing). There is also not much variation in the fonts in the text to emphasize any key points.

Terry the Subject - In-Lecture Exercise D

Image
This image is a top-down mid shot of the subject, which makes the subject seem weak and vulnerable together with the expression of helplessness on his face. This image is a low angle shot which emphasizes the feeling of power, with the added detail of the subject "stepping on" the viewer. In addition, rule of thirds is used here to emphasize the size of the shoe, making the scale of the subject large and the viewer seem even more insignificant. This image is a eye-level shot which tries to capture a neutral expression of the subject. Rule of thirds is also used here to draw attention to the subject's face and exaggerates his facial features. This image is a front facing medium close up which shows the subject in a more serious and neutral manner. This image is a full body shot to showcase the subject as a whole with a more casual and in a more candid fashion.
