Heinz grows Ketchup like Heinz so is Heinz no one? - In Lecture Exercise C
The signifier of the print advertisement as shown displays something that looks like a Ketchup bottle with the text "No one grows Ketchup like Heinz." written on the bottom. Upon closer inspection, we can see that the bottle of Ketchup does not come in normal packaging (e.g. a plastic or glass bottle) but looks like it is made out of fresh tomatoes. The signified implies the concept of how the Ketchup made by the brand Heinz uses natural ingredients and has little to no preservatives. This is emphasized by the fact that they used the main natural ingredient used in Ketchup: tomatoes, as the material to mimic the Ketchup bottle. The words at the bottom also implies the 'naturalness' of Heinz's Ketchup as they used the word "grows" instead of a verb like "makes" or "has": making it akin to a plant instead of a manufactured good.
